Friday Fun

Day 261...

So here we are at Friday the last working day of the week and it has been another busy day.

Once in and up and running at work my first job of the day was to demonstrate CPR on a child...that is a practice dummy of a child!! The whole team had completed our paedatric first aid training a couple of weeks ago via Zoom but one key part that we couldn't complete was demonstrating CPR on a child.

At the time of doing the course our 'dummy' hadn't arrived so we have had to wait for it to arrive and then each of us in turn has had to be videoed carrying out the correct procedure for child CPR that we will then forward to our instructor for validation. So this morning it was my turn to demonstrate and be videoed!

The rest of the work day was pretty standard; banking, emails and creating some new documents. I also have a new safeguarding policy to create following yesterdays course but that will get completed over the next week or so. But today the other main focus was to get ready for next week's Christmas fundraising activities.

Normally by now we have had our annual Christmas Fair with Santa in his Grotto (me as his helper!) and the usual array of festive crafts and stalls; we have everything from cakes to tombolas to crafts to games and this is usually one of our biggest fundraisers of the year often raising close to £1000! But this year we are not able to host a fair so we are having to adapt.

We are organising a raffle to be held 'virtually' and all the staff have chipped in a few pounds to create an amazing Christmas Hamper, we have donations from local businesses as well as our local Asda. And on top of the raffle we will be having a Christmas stall set up all next week where we will be selling such things as reindeer food, Santa keys, chocolate dipped marshmallows and reindeer bells! Fingers crossed we can raise a nice amount of money!

Once home it was time for coffee and a little online work before waiting for Simon to finish work so we could sit down and watch this weeks episode of The Mandalorian...OMG it was soooo good! We are both just loving this show so much, and I can't believe just how much I am geeking out about it. Obviously all these years of being around Star Wars has permeated my brain much deeper than I had realised! But this is the best Star Wars in a very long time, all credit to the powerhouse team of Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni for doing such an amazing piece of work.

And that is where I am going to leave todays post...on a high.

Take care out there.
xx
